Check out these 3 tips on how to make the most of your custom tools.
As the year comes to a close, the hectic nature of the season can make staying organized a serious challenge. Closing out the year’s accounts and prepping for the next one takes a lot of work and documentation. Managing this is a difficult task for anyone anytime, but especially for scaling organizations. If you already are, or are planning to be, the proud owner of some of Atlassian’s agile headache savers, check out these 3 tips on how to make the most of your custom tools.
1. Set yourself up for success
As you already know, Atlassian tools can be a serious benefit to your organization, but at the end of the day, they are only tools. Set up improperly or forced into the hands of those without the right training they can be useless or even harmful, so it is important to make sure that you have all that you need to make the most of what you have.
2. Be consistent
It’s easy to fall back into old habits, especially when switching to a new system, but consistency is key. Log your work, ALL of your work, into Jira and Confluence. The more you do it, the better the tool will work, and the more accustomed you will be to that process. Not to mention, the more consistently you using the tools, the more accurate your reports and Portfolio view will be.
3. Make use of the organizational functions
Atlassian’s tools come with several “bells and whistles” that may not seem important but, when utilized, make the tools much easier to use. For instance, options to tag team members, label stories or pages, and color code content may not seem like direly important details, but go a long way in keeping you organized and making your entry’s easier to read and process.
Now that Atlassian announced they will stop selling new Services Licenses, and moving to the cloud, make sure to take advantage of all the facilities, discounts, and tons of resources for a smooth transition. If you’re not sure where to start, how to customize your tools, or think you need more help, let us know, and we will be happy to make sure you are primed for success.
